Europa and the Bull (Eurotrip)

This watercolor, gouache and pen illustration is part of the Mythos/Dogma series, of which an underlying theme is the restitution of agency to the female figures of Greek mythology and the Catholic canon. In a way, it’s a retelling of a story so long dominated by male perspective, ambition and dominance. Here I have re-imagined Europa not as victim of kidnapping but as an adventuress mounting the back of Jupiter in the form of a bull and embarking on the first ever Eurotrip.
